Macworld’s first hands on with the Apple TV, Take Two

Apple TV software updateChristopher Breen over at the mothership has had a chance to update his Apple TV and put it through its paces. So psyched was he that he could barely stop playing with the device, taking just enough time to jot down his initial thoughts about the update.

There’s a quick rundown of all the new features, the updating process and the quality of the rented movies (OK, only one movie—but he says it’s awesome). So far, it appears that he’s found nothing about the device that would make the update not worth it (ha!) but you’ll have to wait for the full review, which is due in a day or two, for a ringing endorsement (oh come on, you know it’s coming).

The one thing we are certain of is that no one is going to label the Apple TV as a hobby this year and it certainly isn’t going to show up on any “worst gadget of the year” lists. But then again, if the iPhone can be labeled as the fifth biggest “tech disappointment” of 2007, we assume that pretty much anything is up for grabs.

Stay tuned for the full review from Macworld.
