The big addition to the Apple TV this week was the addition of YouTube, but we know Apple slipped in a security update as well. That wasn’t all that was delivered in the 1.1 update: turns out there were a few other features that haven’t gotten a lot of play.
Over on Playlist’s iPod blog, Chris Breen runs down some of the new functionality that came with the Apple TV’s first software update, including Parental Controls for YouTube, improvements to the screen saver, the ability to prioritize photos while syncing content, and even browsing iTunes Stores in other countries.
If nothing else, the 1.1 update shows that Apple is committed to making the Apple TV a serious platform. It’s swell to see that they’ll be delivering so much functionality with free software updates—and thanks to the subscription accounting methodology, there’s no need to worry about the dreaded Sarbanes-Oxley or annoying $2 fees.
