Get a Mac series sports two new additions

Pep RallyApple released two new ‘Get a Mac’ commercials yesterday, both featuring the duo of John Hodgman and Justin Long, a surprising move that reportedly made Steve Ballmer call for an immediate emergency meeting in Redmond to plan a counter-attack for Apple’s move.

One of them is “Pep Rally” which, in my humble opinion, is probably the worst yet in this never-ending series. PC hires a cheerleading squad to spread the buzz and lets it slip that Mac notebooks are the most preferred ones among college students, which sends the cheerleaders into a frenzy of “Mac’s number one!” shouts—not exactly what he was gunning for. Oh, PC—will you never learn?

The other one, titled “Group”, shows the PC attending a rehab program of sorts, along with a bunch of other PCs. With lines like “you’ve taken the biggest step and that is accepting that our operating system isn’t working the way it should” and “I’m pleased to say I’ve been error free for almost a week”, this one definitely gets my vote. The ending is pretty funny, with—spoiler alert!—one of the PCs getting stuck in an endless loop, repeating the same words again and again.

Apple has also made little design changes to the ‘Get a Mac’ advertisements page, arranging the spots in chronological order by year. Perhaps there are just too many to keep track of by now. Perhaps there are just too many to keep track of by now. Perhaps there are just too many to keep track of by now. Perhaps there are just too many to…..

Sad Song might have been funnier if I didn't detest country & western music so much.
