While this is obviously unconfirmed at this point, a future Apple commercial for the iPhone might feature people from across the world praising certain characteristics of the phone.
Posting #308782962 on Craiglist New York describes the ad:
This is an Apple iPhone spec spot. The script involves people of diverse ethnic backgrounds discussing different functions and attributes of the unreleased phone in their native tongue while participating in everyday activities. i.e. going to the fish market or taking a cab. The scenes are to look as natural or “real” as possible therefore, will be shot on location in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Look at the pay? If it was real I'm sure Apple would pay you. Notice..."no calls about this job" that's my second clue. And my third is that it's on Craigslist! Anyone can post whatever they want so there's almost no chance that this is real. I'm sure the ad agency has a whole crap load of aspiring actors on file that meet probably every single one of the listed criteria.
I don't know about a iPhone ad, but there are two new Mac ads up on Apple.com.
I don't know where to say this but...
New Mac Ads in Apple.com. ;)
This "we are the world" ad would bomb horribly. Someone cynical would point out, quite correctly, that most of the world's many peoples can't begin to afford this pricey little toy.
Of course, Apple is capable of just this sort of crudeness I remember when Apple staged a photo op, mixing celebrity kids with poor kids, letting both create things with the original iMac. At the end of the day, the celebrity kids, whose parents could buy an iMac with pocket change, were given a free iMac to take home. The poor kids were told that "their" iMacs would be donated to their schools in a few weeks. That little incident has always struck me as a near perfect illustration of how socialism works.
@Inkling
I believe you mean capitalism not socialism. The rich get richer and the poor stay poor. The American way. Sure, you can always find the exception, but for the majority, the rule applies.
Note that the ad calls it a "spec spot." I could be wrong, but I believe this means that it's someone who's looking to produce a faux ad of their portfolio, i.e. to show what they're capable of.
This is probably not Chiat/Day looking for actors, especially since they have the usual modeling agencies and casting directors they can tap.
It's not a real commercial. It's a spec spot so it's probably a film student making a commercial for their portfolio.
I used to produce a lot of spec spots, I even produced a few less than steller ipod commercials.
But you'll never see these commercials, they're made simply for the director to show to an ad agency to show off their skills.
It sounds like this one is pretty lame too, esspecially if they aren't paying.
