U-Charge: like U-Haul, but for batteries. Except not.

ucharge.jpgI’m sure many’s the time you’ve thought to yourself: “if only I had a spare MacBook so I could charge my spare MacBook battery. Then life would be just peachy!” Of course, that’s just crazy talk. But FastMac’s come up with the next best thing: their U-Charge external battery charger.

Available in black and white, the 45 watt 110/220V auto-switching U-Charge will let you juice up 10.8V Mac batteries from the PowerBook G3 Pismo/Lombard era all the way to the current MacBooks/MacBook Pros (sorry MacBook Air fans, your lack of a removable battery leaves you out of the party). FastMac’s also working on a 14.4V charger for the original clamshell iBook, 14” iBook G3/G4, and 15” Titanium PowerBook G4.

The U-Charge runs for $70, and is “guaranteed to be the last battery charger that you will buy.” Because if you try to buy another one, they will kill you.

Too bad you can't use the Apple power cords/adapters (between the wall and the charger). I suppose it's a licensing thing.

He-he! We won't kill you but when you get your review unit you will see that you won't need to buy another battery charger, even if Apple changes the battery terminals. That's because U-Charge has a removable tip/ cord so if you want to charge a different type of battery with it, you can (we just haven't made those tips yet because we are emphasizing the Mac in FastMac). This is why we are saying that U-Charge is the last battery charger you will need to buy :-)

Disclosure: I work for FastMac.com
