Just a couple of days ago, we witnessed Dan go ballistic about the Time Capsule’s failure to show up along with the updates MacBooks and the iPod shuffle. When he starts talking about dying kittens, you know he’s in panic mode.
Therefore, it was music to his ears when he heard today that those much vaunted backup devices have not been forgotten by Apple in all the February excitement. Apple has now confirmed what we’ve been hearing from those who have pre-ordered, that the status of Time Capsule orders—which they’ve been trying to change by sheer willpower ever since the Macworld Expo—have finally budged and are now showing “preparing to ship.” We presume that means they are, in fact, being loaded into bullock-carts and dispatched all over the world as we speak. If you’ve ordered one, give us a shout below to tell us of your (presumably good) fortune.

It's true!! Received a mail 15 minutes ago saying "Your order was shipped on 28.02.2008. Your Delivery Reference Number is blah blah. We expect your order to be delivered to your shipping address on or before 07.03.2008."
A bit vague, but what the heck.
I will not be able to buy one of these until the Airport Extreme I bought for this purpose when Leopard shipped actually works.
Apple is really screwing the pooch on this one.
I have been telling all my fellow AirportExtreme/Leopard/AirDisk early adopters to be patient and wait for TimeCapsules to ship. We were all promised the ability to point TimeMachine to our AirDisks, and bought AE Routers and Leopard based on those assurances from Apple. Will our patience and loyalty be rewarded with a software update?
If not, I will be taking my 6+ month old AE router to the Apple Store and demanding a full credit against a TimeCapsule.
does anyone know if i can actually store stuff on it or is it ONLY for back up purposes (with a copy of the file being required to sit in my computer as well)?
Wow... Apple is shipping Time Machines? And I thought they were going to ship Time Capsules! ;)
Thanks, Jon. Fixed ;)
I JUST GOT MY TIME CAPSULE TODAY... 1TB model, now hooked up and running, backing up my 15.4" MBP as I speak.
I live in Tokyo and it shipped on the 28th and was delivered today on the 29th. Its larger size than my AirPort Extreme was a little surprising; it's taking up some big desk real estate.
