Early MacBook Air cases debut

hardcase_e_md.jpgWhile we’ve seen some utterly ridiculous MacBook Air offerings, it hasn’t been even a week yet, and companies are already ramping up production to serve the burgeoning Air market. One of those companies is Waterfield Design, out of San Francisco.

At the risk of biting the hand that feeds me, I’m wondering where Peter Cohen gets the idea that “The HardCase marks the third case that WaterField has created in a custom size to suit the MacBook Air.” — based on the physical dimensions alone (13.8” x 10” x 2.5” / 2.2 lb.) it looks identical to the case that the company makes for MacBooks. Same for the company’s previous SleeveCase and Racer-X cases as well.

Are these Belkin cases really thin enough for the Air?

The sleeve case, at least, is listed as a different size (13-2) for the MBA than for the MB (13-1).

Perhaps the other two cases are the same size internally but have different-sized pockets for the laptops themselves, leaving more free space for accessories in the MBA version?

You intrepid journalists should contact the company and find out for us!
