There are a few Mac rumors that will never die until Steve Jobs finally takes the stage at a Macworld keynote and announces them. One was the iPhone—we got that last year. To a lesser degree, we’ve also got the long-gestating issue of Apple’s revamped Cinema Displays, with or without integrated iSights for Mac mini and Mac Pro users out there.
ZDNet Mac blogger Jason O’Grady is stoking the fires of conspiracy today with the news that Apple has pushed the Cinema Displays off the front page of the Apple Store, and removed most mentions of them (though not the displays themselves, which are still around if you search for them). I can think of only one sufficiently meme-tastic response.
I’m sure Apple will revise the Cinema Displays at some point; they are long overdue for an update. I don’t know, however, if they’ll merit a keynote mention. Maybe if Apple’s Really light on other news, but I feel like if new displays get keynote time—no matter how snazzy they are—we will be awash in proclamations of “Worst. Keynote. Ever.”
I for one would not complain about higher pixel densities and LED backlighting.
@Dave-O: But heaven forbid they make a typo in their press release. Then all bets are off, right?
Well, now you've opened the floodgates. I held back from pointing out the missing t in that and the fact that you meant overdue, not overdo (unless you wamted to suggest Apple is overdoing the delay to increase the tension).
It is ironic that you post this response on the one post I've seen in days that has obvious errors.
@ the meme-tastic response.
I almost pissed myself.
Irony indeed! Thanks for the catches. These kinds of thing do happen when you write hundreds if not thousands of words everyday, but we do strive to keep the numbers as low as possible.
And you do a good job. I'm always happy to see your name in the byline, Dan.
